This is the intro shot of my music video. The background shot is typical of Travis Scott’s own music videos as a lot of them are very mysterious and include the woods, therefore this shot relates well to videos of this genre. It also has a title across the front which fades in which can also compare. It helps the audience get to grips with where about the music video is set and gives them a feel for what they might expect. Due to the bold text, makes it obvious at what kind of genre the music video is; also this intro shot shows a little of where the inspiration came from – ‘WHAT’ by Playboi Carti.
This is a shot of the ‘love interest’ in my music video, in most rap videos there is some kind of love interest and therefore, this is interpreted in a different way; it is typical for this genre to have a love interest or sexual relation in a video. One of the inspirations for this particular video was Travis Scotts music video of ‘Don’t Play’, showing the romantic chemistry between a couple.
This shot is one of the lip sync. In videos of this genre, it is unlikely that they will sing/rap the whole song for their music video, therefore, like shown above they will lip sync to the music. We chose a different character to take on this role to add more to our video, and to separate the narrative from the song. We chose to use a plain background to enhance the focus which is the actor above, and we added a filter on top to add effect to that and make it more interesting.
Above is a shot of the narrative behind the music. It introduces the plan that the characters make to ruin the party, therefore this is an important part to show in the video so the audience can understand and it shows the narrative, therefore making sense to people watching. In videos of the same/similar genre there is a drama much like ours therefore this is usual for videos such as this; also introducing more characters to the audience.
This is the intro to the party scene; this is the beginning of the formal party when everything is going fine and the characters are meeting and greeting each other blissfully unaware of future events. It also shows the setting and background and the outfits of the kind of people that are attending this party; grand furniture and paintings and smartly and formally dressed characters. This particular section shows how we were inspired by ‘WHAT’ by Playboi Carti once again.
This shot shows a character drinking from a tumbler, which are usually used for scotch or whisky, which is typical of this ‘class’ it also shows the use of alcohol in this genre of videos, it is very popular and strongly used in most or all of these music videos. Whether the music video is set in a party or a chilled, laid back venue there is still alcohol used or shown.
This shot reintroduces the love interest/couple which are featured/focused on in this video. Bringing the audience back to this couple shows more of the narrative, and keeps the main actors important, otherwise the narrative of our video would make less sense and they might be forgotten about, which would end up being a meaningless idea to film them separately at the beginning.
This shot shows a silver studded cufflink, and from the small section you can see, it is clear that this is a well dressed man, in a nicely tailored suit. Although typically the characters aren’t dressed like this in a real music video of this genre, there are videos of this genre that include things similar to this. This is also a sign of money – a nicely, well dressed man – which is a common advertisement in these kinds of videos.
This image here is another shot of alcohol influence. This is again very common in these kinds of music videos, this shows a character pouring alcohol into another characters mouth, this is obviously not particularly safe, however it shows that over drinking and being foolish is a popular activity of this genre.
